Want Email Marketing to Be Fun and Effective? Switch to Flodesk.

Email marketing is my favorite. I love to write and enjoy the creativity of designing an email.

But when I started email marketing not long after I opened my business in 2013, it wasn’t so fun.

The platform options were clunky, and no matter how hard I tried, the gorgeous formatting I had in mind wasn’t possible to implement.

The only thing I liked was that the platform I used was free until my list hit 2,000 subscribers.

Then I discovered Flodesk, and despite having to pay for a subscription, I immediately jumped on board.

And over the years I’ve convinced sixteen of my clients and small business friends to do the same.

Here’s what has us hooked:

It’s efficient

Designing an email on Flodesk is fast. They have great templates to choose from and a variety of ways to customize them with the use of layout blocks.

And because Flodesk works on the block system, all sections of a template can be swapped for a different block.

There’s an entire branding section on the back-end.

The Branding settings section allows you to upload your logo, brand colors, and even fonts.

It’s intuitive to use

Flodesk promotes itself as an intuitive platform, and they aren’t lying.

I found it very easy to figure out and not once did I need to look up a tutorial (though they have them).

The dashboard is minimal with all major sections being linked in the top navigation.

Emails — This is where you’re brought when you log in. You can see every email you’ve created, and on each thumbnail you can see whether it’s sent, is a draft, or scheduled to send later.

Forms — Where you can create and edit your opt-in forms.

Workflows — Where you can create and edit welcome sequences.

Checkouts — If your website doesn’t offer e-commerce or you don’t want to pay for it, checkouts allow you to charge for event services, online courses, digital downloads, event registrations, and more.

Audience — Where you can view and edit your lists.

Analytics — The stats.

The circle to the far right is your logo and where you can access settings including branding, billing, double opt-in, and your affiliate link.

Designing emails is easy.

When creating an email you can choose from a variety of templates, which Flodesk organizes into goals such as “Welcome,” “Make money,” and “Say thanks.”

Each template is comprised of blocks (text, image, graphic, button, and varying combinations) that are absolutely stunning.

Email design works on the block system, meaning everything is drag and drop.

And everything can be customized, so if you want to change the look and branding of a block or delete/change the block layout, you can.

Remember, if you input your branding on the backend your logo will flood in and you can quickly select your fonts and colors in the block settings.

Note that you can only use custom fonts in layout blocks, not general text blocks. (But there is a layout block that’s just text and serves as a workaround to this.)

Tip: My emails use a standard format, so to save time customizing the blocks and branding of a template, I copy my last newsletter.

What you see is exactly how the email looks when it sends — and there’s no coding involved!

Emails are absolutely gorgeous

This is what convinced me to switch to Flodesk. You can create a functional email on any platform, it’s the form that’s limited.

I’ve seen a lot of email newsletters from Flodesk between my own, clients I’ve convinced to switch to Flodesk, and other email newsletters I subscribe to. They’re all minimal yet beautiful.

And they don’t all look the same because there are so many layout block options and it’s so easy to customize your branding.

HOW DOES 50% OFF YOUR FIRST YEAR OF FLODESK SOUND?

Psst! This is an affiliate link. ;)

Flodesk has the same features as the mainstream platforms

You can have multiple lists (called “Audiences” on Flodesk), create multiple types of opt-in forms (such as pop-ups, inline, and full page), set-up an automated welcome sequence (called a “Workflow), and include link actions in your emails that adds the reader to a workflow or another list.

And they’re constantly adding new features

You can now create a link in bio page on Flodesk, sell on Flodesk, and add a countdown timer to your email.

Flodesk emails users when new features are available, and you can see what’s coming up here.

Their support is outstanding

Flodesk has great tutorials and they’re active on their Facebook group. One of the co-founders often responds to support-related posts!

Analytics are simple to locate and easy to understand

Like other e-newsletter softwares, Flodesk allows you to see open rates, which devices readers viewed your email on, what they clicked, your unsubscribe rate, and more. The difference is how easy this information is presented.

You can view an individual email’s analytics as well as analytics by subscriber.

Summary of an email’s analytics.

The “View Details” of that same email’s analytics. You can click on each section for more details.

It’s affordable

In order for me to switch from my free email newsletter platform to Flodesk, it had to be affordable in addition to being incredible.

I love how Flodesk charges one flat rate. Other platforms charge based on your number of contacts, lists, and email sends, but with Flodesk everything is unlimited.

Flodesk is currently $38/mo. or $420/year (which brings it down to $35/mo.) E-commerce is an additional fee. See pricing.
